Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is currently undergoing a large modernization effort, integrating an Automated People Mover (APM) system to connect the existing terminals. Bragg Crane & Rigging is playing an integral role in this project. Our ironworkers are welding, cutting and grinding the newly installed structural steel as part of the Terminal Vertical Core project. BC&R Worked with Austin Commercial on this project and used 5 different cranes to place the steel: Tadano GR1600 XL, Liebherr LTR-1220, Terex T340 XL, Liebherr LR1300, Linkbelt HTC 86100.
Due to the fact that this project is taking place at such a busy airport, efficiency and clear scheduling are very important. Our team works hard to ensure that there is minimal impact on airport traffic while they complete their work on the terminals.
The COVID-19 pandemic also increased safety protocols on this job and all of our team’s planning had to account for adequate social distancing and PPE. This was a unique challenge, but one our team took in stride.
